Speak Up and Speak Out
Despite the attempts to nullify the work we do in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in corporate America, I know this work is not partisan or political. It is the smart course of action for any business.
This work increases shareholder value. It supports employee engagement, talent retention, and leadership development. This work leads to long-term business success.
I know that our members share Chicago United’s vision of making Chicago the most inclusive business ecosystem in the nation. Yet, with this work comes a responsibility … a responsibility to speak up and take a stand.
I am putting out the call to action! Let’s speak up and speak out! Together, we have the power and influence to dig even deeper into this work, defend our successes against the attacks on DE&I, and move forward to break new ground.
I will not be dissuaded. I will not allow this work to be obliterated.
We cannot move backwards.
Be well,

From The 2023 Bridge Awards Presenting Sponsor: BMO
|
|
At BMO, we strive to be a champion for progress and a catalyst for change. Our Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life informs our strategy, drives our ambition, and reinforces our commitments for a thriving economy, a sustainable future and an inclusive society.
For over thirty years, BMO has supported Chicago United’s mission to foster inclusive and diverse leadership. We are proud to sponsor this year’s Chicago United Bridge Awards Celebration, as we honor the 2023 Business Leaders of Color, their successes and future contributions to the business world. This year, Kimberley Goode, BMO’s Chief Communications and Social Impact Officer, will join the 17 BMO executives that have been honored as Business Leaders of Color.
BMO is focused on providing access to opportunities and enabling growth for our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve. In 2022, we announced BMO EMpower 2.0, our more than $40 billion community benefits plan to address key barriers faced by minority businesses, communities and families. Through a combination of financial and community-driven investment, we believe that together with our partners, we can make a meaningful change at the local level.
Through our partnerships, we can continue to create more opportunities for people of color and ensure that Chicago is poised for a more equitable, inclusive and prosperous future. We look forward to coming together to celebrate the 2023 Business Leaders of Color on November 16.
