It is important to pause, acknowledge, and remember the unprecedented and heavy toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on ALL of us since it gripped our nation a year ago.
It’s been humbling to watch you, our members, come together in the face of unimagined challenges and support those most in need. You’ve shown what it means to respect and dignify
the humanity of each person.
We depend on each other to lift one another, to protect each other, to be allies. Indeed, the work of Chicago United rests on that foundation of mutual dependency. So, as
we move toward more promising days and months ahead, thanks to vaccinations and cross-sector efforts to recover from the economic downturn, let’s remain determined to support each other.
And never forget, we must honor those we have lost and not let their lives be in vain.

Alison Bodor, a member of the Leaders Council and the Diversity Officer Roundtable, was named DEI Champion awardee for the 2021 National Diversity & Leadership
Conference in April. Alison is Program Director of Diversity and Inclusion for Northwestern Medicine. She also served as a member of the Diversity Task Force for the 2019 edition of our Inside
Inclusion publication.
