LEAN IN
It wasn’t too long ago that laws had to be fought for to secure human rights and equitable treatment for People of Color. It has been over a year since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision ruling against affirmative action in college admissions. The access point for kids of color applying to our colleges and universities has been shut down since that ruling. The rate of DE&I positions that have been eliminated is at an all-time high in corporate America. Getting rid of these positions does not alter the data. There are still People of Color who aren’t getting promotions, who aren’t in the C-Suite or executive ranks, who aren’t being appointed to boards. People of Color are still underrepresented in the workplace. There are still barriers that must come down. When diverse pipelines are stifled at colleges and universities, diversity of thought and innovation in business is ultimately affected if companies do not lean in to protect this work of DE&I. How does this empower employees of color and what will the future workforce look like? These short term decisions have long-term consequences.
Be well,
