Our Reality

Right now, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion—DE&I—is being used as a slur, as an insult to diminish and demean rightfully earned, merit-based achievements.

Since there are so many trying to redefine DE&I, let me be clear: In the work we do at Chicago United, DE&IDiversity, Equity and Inclusion—means fair access, opportunity, resources and power for People of Color in business to thrive, eliminating historical and systemic barriers that cause oppression.

Chicago United continues to prove that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion transforms corporate culture and instigates long-term change. It is a disservice to those who fought this battle before us and to future generations poised to live the consequences if we allow others to redefine the reasons why this work is important.

Do not sit still while our reality becomes distorted.

There is much more work to do.

Be well,
